The
International Chinese Heart Health Network (ICHHN) was inugurated
in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in February 1994.
The ICHHNs core mission is to educate an improve the
cardiovascular health of Chinese people worldwide.
Members
who attended the inuguration meeting comprised medical and
health professionals, researchers and volunteers in the public
and community health sectors. They came from Canada, China,
Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and the United States.
To date, more than 300 health personnel have joined ICHHN
to fulfil the Networks objective.
ICHHN
endorses the principals of the Victorian Declaration on Heart
Health issued on May 28, 1992 on the occasion of the
first International Heart Health Conference held in Victoria,
British Columbia, Canada; the Catalonia Declaration on Investing
in Heart Health issued on June 1, 1995 on the occasion
of the second International Heart Health Conference held in
Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain) and also the Singapore Declaration
on Forging the will for Heart Health in the Next Millennium
issued on the occasion of the third International Heart Health
Conference held in the Republic of Singapore.
With
the formation of ICHHN, the regional view of preventive health
prospect provides solutions to overcome the otherwise divisive
politics that may hinder a free exchange of ideas and also
promotion activities.
Despite
the different political systems amongst our members
countries, the ultimate goal of improving cardiovascular health
of Chinese people worldwide makes it possible for our members
of different regions to work together to achieve our common
objective.
Today
our organisation is made up of the following members:
Chinese
Hypertension League
Chinese Society of Cardiology
Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon
Hong Kong College of Cardiology
Parkway Group Healthcare Pte Ltd, Singapore
Taiwan Society of Cardiology
